For all of you who haven’t heard of this book before, I would like to recommend “The Roma Journeys” by Joakime Eskildsen. The book is a comprehensive collection of photographs that show Roma people all over the world, from Finland to India. There is lots of great portraits in the book, and Eskildsen truely has a great sense for composition and colours. To me, this book is one of the best and most appealing books of the last year, it’s  a great plaisure to read and watch it…I’ve spend hours doing that…

My Magazines

August 1, 2008

I found a great website thats hosts hundreds of scanned articles & magazines, unfortunately only US and Canadien publications. I hope that this site will keep growing, because it’s really a perfect resource for photography and editorial design.

Martin Kollar

When checking out lensculture.com, I found a series of a slovakian photographer namend Martin Kollar. This series is called Army cooks, I really like this work a lot, not only the photographs themselves but also the whole concept. Great idea to show the cooks that prepare the food for all those soldiers etc.

Here is the article.

See also his website, I like his stuff very much.

Christoph Bangert

June 18, 2008

I recently heard about a young photojournalist who also studied here in Dortmund and now works frequently for the New York Times. He published a book called “Iraq”.
I like his website and the way he lives, travels and works at the same time…(I guess that’s what I do too…)
I’m not a big fan of photojournalism, mostly because there are so many low-quality and boring pictures out there, but Christophers pictures are somehow fresher… I like it.
