As a last post this night I’d like to recommend you a fresh blog from Paris about photo books, called “One year of Books”

As there ain’t too much time at the moment for major blog posts, collecting pictures, topics and links for danielonphotography, I think it’s still nice to make some smaller posts and just let you know what I find inspriring at the moment.

My daily blogg roll today led me to a entertaining ongoing video-interview-talk on wtj / Whatsthejackanory.com where blogger and photographer Andrew Hetherington organised a dinner with other great photographers you might already have come across on this blog , e.g. Peter Yang or Chris Buck. I’m excited how the next episodes will be like.

A more in depth review of a talk with Thomas Ruff at Aperture in New York last week can be found at Joerg Colbergs “Conscientious” blog today. I found it interesting that the reception of Ruff’s work in the States seems to be quite different then here in Germany/ Europe.

By the way, Ruff’s comment on photo books: photo books are mere reproductions, the real art was on the wall.

My favourite collection on www.cracktwo.com is “rare photos of famous people“. Good blog for a lazy sunday night.

Through a friend I found this blog and it made laugh a lot… I like to see “serious”, “arty” photography and write about it, but sometimes it’s just great to watch these nonsense amateur photos. Awesome collection & blog.

I like this guy.

Admired bloggers Jörg Colberg from “Conscientious” and Hester and Norman from “Mrs. Deane” started a new blog “the independent photo book” that lists independent photo books that are not available on amazon etc.

What a great idea to collect all the wonderful work and books one never comes across beacause they are too small which actually says nothing about their quality- so many of the self-made and self-published books are really interesting and cool.

Again, great idea, thanks Jörg, Hester and Norman!

(Hope to produce and publish my own project “Bergwerk Ost” later this year – and put it on the list…)

I have been to this blog earlier but it wasn’t until now that I’ve seen how much interesting interviews, videos and theory sources can be found on www.americansuburbx.com

Amazing blog.

Especially when you are interested in editorial and portrait photography, Andrew Hetherington’s Blog WTJ (whatsthejackanory.com) gives good and amusing  insights, also with a focus on what’s going in in NYC. Andrew went to a lecture with Juergen Teller and filmed it – it’s quite long but also very interesting. I especially like the moment  Teller says that when he started out, a magazin (don’t remeber if he said FACE or ID) paid him 100 £ per page, and to reduce costs, he bought a 35 mm film (that’s what he still shoots) with only 12 exposures which forced him to work “very precise”.This guy really knows what he wants.

I found this blog where students from Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (MIAD) collected tons of links to interviews and blogs. Seems to be a good place to start browsing through the photography world!
